Community Reacts to Black Men Being Shot
Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Alton Sterling, Terrence Crutcher, Oscar Grant: all unarmed African American men being shot down and killed by police. On July, 2013, Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors all joined up together to start the now popular movement “Black lives matter”. The black male is not harmful, it is not okay for a caucasian police male or female to assume that every tall, big, black man is always going to start trouble or want to harm them in any type of way. The African American community has been dealing with these situations for the past 4 years, and trying to find a solution to end this problem.
Twenty years from now the black children of today may decide to make the choice to have kids and start their own family, but the fact that this problem as yet been stopped can leave fear for them to want to bring another human being in this world and even for parents today. This has been happening for so long that there is now a stereotype for black men that they are always gonna cause trouble or because that some may look big and come off intimidating that they are going to hurt somebody.
The protest for Black Lives Matter was put together to bring awareness to the black community and the situations that are happening within, It even got a buzz on social media with its hashtag Black Lives Matter. There needs to be awareness and change to this situation because it is very apparent that our judicial system does not see that.
.Black people should not be so stereotyped and judged just because we are of color and appear different to people by how we act and talk.
America is mad and tired of walking in the streets and all they hear is “Black lives matter” but aren't aware that we are also tired that we have to keep saying it because nothing is yet being solved. We’re tired of seeing these things on the news and we’re tired and hurt that we’ve been saying the same line for the past 3 years. There has to be change for the way society looks upon the black community and just black people in general and stop seeing us as some dangerous animal that is going to cause harm everywhere we go. We are human, we bleed red just like everyone else. It’s time to stop being treated like we’re so different went the reality is we are all same.
